I have a 73 Stroppe Kit. Bought it from the original owner. His father was in charge of land management in AZ in the 70's, and would meet with Bill Stroppe, Parnelli Jones, Mickey Thompson and other prominent figures before the start of each Baja 500. It has a very cool history.
Ordered as a Green/Green Ranger. Has Bumper braces, cactus smasher, hitch, double shocks, padded steering wheel, full cage. The engine was built in Long Beach as well. Shelby intake, 4bbl, dual point distributor, hipo heads, headers, all 70's vintage. I have a bunch of before and after pictures in B&W from the 70's.
It's back in the corner of my shop waiting for a restoration one day.

OK, I'll throw this one out there since it is not red white and blue either.

1977 with pics of Bill Stroppe and crew installing the custom winch bumper and siren.

It has a few of the Baja items such as mag wheels (but with staggered front and rear offsets like used on the race Broncos), bumper braces, roll bar (modified to hold the stretcher), but has the standard steering wheel and of course factory auto and power steering. Tons of other mods for use on the balloon chase as an ambulance.

Nugent also had/has a Stroppe built full size (can not recall the year).

How about some pictures of this beauty?

Thanks,

She's in the corner, eagerly awaiting a proper restoration. These pictures are over a year old. That's all I can find right now. The PO claims he has an old picture somewhere with this Bronco and Big Oly from the Baja in the mid 70's. He's been looking for 6 years, or so he claims.

Swamp Thing

Here's a good one for ya. Whats this? Swamp Thing...is what... but what I mean is, was it solid color and Stroppified before or after being painted Orange White and Blue in 3/74??? We know how it is now and how it was rebuilt due to the documents that came with it including dates, Stroppe catalog and some receipts....and it was Grabber Green Metallic, one of our favorite colors. Which way to go back...GGM or OWB? Thotce?

Thanks for sharing! When you mentioned AZ, I was hoping it might be a well-built green/white Ranger from my youth that I've lost track of in the past 30 years. This one looks like another great one! Hopefully the guy finally finds that pic of it with Big Oly someday...

This might be it. It started life as a Green/Green Ranger. Andrew has some killer B&W pics from back in the day he'll post.
