I don't see the flat rubber (tailgate or door) you guys are talking about. Got any closeups?

Here is what I think he is talking about. Easy to miss when it looks like rust!

It seems that in '77, Ford changed the name to "Copper Poly"(color code "Z"). I think that the previous few years that code "Z" was "Hot Ginger". Just looking at the chip, I really can't tell any difference.

The main part that we are using from the Jade '77 is the tub, and it looks like almost all of it may new. The tub is definitely going to need floors and one hinge post and kick panel; And that is just at a glance! After it is blasted, we may have to order one of those "Complete Body Tub Kits"!:cry::-[

The Flipped '77 runs and drives great! The Bronco just has 100k miles and the PO had recently rebuilt several components...(engine, transmission, brakes, new radiator, all new rubber (which is trash now). Other than all the sheet metal being ruined, (tailgate and dash are the only two undamaged pieces of sheetmetal) the Bronco is exceptionally clean! Its crazy, the floorpans are shiney!...no rust anywhere!...just bent... The whole tub is warped; leaning to the left side!?:??:?

A few pics of a Chevy Nova that we have done the metal fab on that was "back halved". The class that this car runs rules that the trunk has to be separated from the driver...(if it is a station wagon it doesn't have to be...go figure!). So we have been fabricating all new steel pans and panels to seal the car up. What makes this 'Bronco Related' is that we are staying in practice to do Bronco panel replacement!! (no pics of inside trunk...we are not finished yet...:-[:-[
Note: Those rust stains on the new sheet metal is from SWEAT!!!

Today was Saturday, so I worked on my stuff - Sweetie

Sweetie is my most recent Bronco purchase. It is a '77 Silver Ranger that I have known since the early '90's. I bought it two weeks before the SuperCelebration, so I have no had the time to do much of anything with it. We took it to the show (trailered), and while there the trans started pouring, so since the show I have built the trans and the carb, but thats it. This Bronco is 70k documented miles and the underneath was slick as a whistle. (My first trip to look at it: I pull to the PO's place and get my creeper and a flashlight out to look!) This truck was as clean as any I have looked at! No sign of any issues.

Well, you know with old Broncos, you never know exactly what to expect sometimes! Before the purchase, I throughly inspected the bottom, but I didn't remove the carpet.....The owner doesn't like it much if you walk up with a screwdriver and start dismantling his Bronco! Anyhow, I knew I need to remove the original carpet and clean and repaint the floorpans.

Here in the south, because of the humidity and temperature changes things tend to 'sweat'. I don't have to explain any more because know what I discovered. The carpet was glued down and the jute backing had started to adhere via rust to the floor pans. The main issues are on the drivers and passengers floor pans.

The glue was exceptionally hard to remove. The best way I found was with a twisted wire wheel on a 4.5" grinder. Looks like for sure one pan replacement, possibly two!:p:p

Cruze In Pics

After working on Sweetie, I closed the shop and took in a Cruze. A few Broncos there, including the U13, a '25 Buick, Cobras with a car seat (pink at that!), a really clean FJ40, a original steel '34 Ford, and a '73 or '74 Kawa 2 stroke 750 .....

that is my kind of cruz in. Broncos, cobras, and fairlanes which are my three favorite, plus a little bit in between. Nice pictures.

Nice pictures of the 77. I remember seeing it at supercelebration. it is a very nice bronco. I hope to get to that point one day.

Not much automotive going on.....

We have been really busy with sign projects for the last few months and I am getting to the point of needing a "Bronco Fix"! Attached are pics of a few of the current projects....channel letters and more channel letters! Most of what we are doing are illuminated with LEDs. We build all the components in house with aluminum cabinets and acrylic faces. We are also working on a "Woodhaven Calls" neon sign to be at the big turkey expo at the Opry Land Hotel Convention Hall next weekend! Nothing like being behind the 8 ball! I hope the smell of drying paint doesn't bother the turkey hunters!!!;D;D

Neon Turkey Show Signs

Well.....after trial and tribulation, the Woodhaven signs are almost complete. A little primary wiring on the back and a couple of plugs installed and crating is all that is left!! ...and replacing a broken neon unit....!

How many Bronco owners are going to the Big Turkey Expo in Nashville next weekend? Maybe a lot.... Visit the Woodhaven Calls area an spend a lot of money and tell the attendants that is was all because of the signs!!!;);)

I like that grill guard, that is the style I'm looking for, anyone know where I can find one?

The grille guard / bumper / winch mount is a PO manufactured unit. The winch, winch mount and grill guard is a warn unit with the bumper added by the PO. However, it looks pretty nice, but I think the warn components are actually for a Ranger or Bronco II.

Alabama straight line winds

Several Bronco's escaped injury this afternoon thanks to a sturdy built structure. 75+ mph winds reaked havock in our area this afternoon with 160,000 people out of power and thousands of trees downed. Just up the road a 150 year old oak went over blocking the hiway and taking all the lines with it.

The winds snapped off some pines on our place and one large tree had a '66 and a '74 Bronco in it's sights. The shop suffered considerable damage to the roof systems but the main structure supported a 20" tree 100' tall bouncing off it! What was weird was I saw it snap and fall on the roof and it bounced on the roof when it hit!...like tossing a baseball bat on the ground.

We removed the tree with the crane truck, but debris is everywhere and the shop is going the take a little while to repair!?:??:??:?:-[:-[
