Went to the dump today and they were slow so I was able to check my gross axle weight front/rear.
5.0L, NP435, Dana 20, Dana 44 front, Dana 60 Rear, 36x12.50 on steel wheels, soft top. No family cage or winch, and me inside.
Front: 2420
Rear: 1820
Total: 4240
My total weight was 4180, I could see it on the display and my receipt confirms it. I don't know if the lady didn't let the scale settle or, if there is supposed to be some discrepency, but 60lbs difference is quite a bit.
A little disappointed in weight distribution. I expect a difference, but not 25%. Time for a fiberglass hood I think, and fenders!

It's not GAWR - what you're asking for is the " curb weight" of each wheel.

That's only 14% different (57/43). 2420/4240=57% And if you put 1/4 ton (500 lbs) in the bed, it'd be 51/49. Was the rear gas tank full? That's ~100 lbs.
Those scales are probably built for 40 tons or more, so a 60 lb error isn't significant (0.075% ).

Did you mean 600 lbs? 2420-1820 is 600. I *think* that sounds right - the motor I'm guessing is 400 pounds if not more, and the NP435 is at least 100 pounds. The Dana 20 isn't light either. Someone might have more accurate numbers on all that.
I've always wondered what the difference is between passenger side and driver's side weight. With the entire drivetrain sitting a few inches off center, it might be another reason for the infamous "Bronco lean".

I was just referencing the rear being 600 lbs lighter...as 25% lighter in the rear like if I had a scale and put 4 bricks on one side and 3 on the other. But you are right, I should be using a percentage of total vehicle weight.
Had a little over a 1/4 tank (20gal)

I think he meant the difference in the sum of the F&R weights (2420+1820=4240), and the weight for the whole truck (4180), which is 60 lbs.

When I start the buildup I'm gonna weigh everything from the frame up. So we should have a good idea of roughly what these trucks weigh when I'm done. As well as where the weight is on the truck.
