Rattling noise coming from rear end

When I swapped my stock style axles for wild horses 31 spline, I was very pleased to notice that the bearings have the grease seal outside the bearing surface. Unlike Ford factory-style bearings where the grease seal is inserted in the axle tube and the bearing itself is sealed. Though I have...

Rattling noise coming from rear end

I think you start by inspecting the driveshaft and external stuff. Then take the drums off and see if one of the adjusters is rattling around, Then see if there is ANY lateral play in the wheel bearings - also run the rear-end on jack stands to see if the noise is apparent. Good luck! -JB

    Timing issues

I had a buddy run a couple of DUIs in his Bronco, but he eventually lost his license 🤣 and had to sell it to pay for the lawyers. I assume that's not the kind of DUI you're talking about.

    Timing issues

I'll tell you an embarrassing story, when I was putting the harmonic balancer on my 5.0 I was working with a buddy and somehow we TDC'd off of hole number two! That's teamwork for you, I'm lying under the front end trying to figure out why the timing mark is so far off. A Whistler is also...

    Complete Suspension Solution Advice Needed

I don't remember how many leaves the stock springs had, but lots less than any of the kids available today. I'm a Wild Horses guy, although I did get my front steering from Duffs, they both make great suspension kits as do several others. I went 2 in with the stock e-brake line, although it...

    Complete Suspension Solution Advice Needed

The shock debate rages on, no real opinion here. Progressive springs will do better for street daily/driver New leaf springs in back (with lots of leaves) will change your world. Sway bar will improve street cornering and safety, but many (including me) don't like them for many reasons including...

    1972 Bronco Wedding Build

Awesome! If you are going to do the motor/trans/t-case, take those out first. Then get it to paint & body ASAP, those shops can take forever. Axles/suspension/lifts can be done later and in not too much time. -JB

Replacing gas tanks in my 74 Bronco

I rent a bay at a one-man shop in Flagstaff, he presently has 2 other EBs in there he is working on. Honest and reliable, if you are interested?

    Transfer case yoke?

Go to Napa or Carquest, Speedi Sleeve will usually be in stock. BTW, they aren't cheap. No matter if you use the old or new, now you will have spares.

Best Way to Plug a Barbed Fitting?

I did the longer bolt, cut off the threads and clamps. My $0.02, I wish the vendors would sell AN ready fuel systems/tanks/pumps, filters. -JB

Low rise manifold and air filter for 2 bbl Sniper

I disagree about some aspects of the statement regarding 2-bbl manifold/EFI. I think it will run great and provide low-end torque (or at least not reduce it). For max-performance at R's, 4-bbl is the way to go. Here is the plenum I used: Spectre Performance 751 Passenger Side Low Profile...

    Source of oil residue

I would look carefully at the (white) paper towel when I wiped the hose. Kinda looks like PS/ATF (but can't see the color in small drops) or brake fluid. Nice looking top-end BTW! -JB

    Ignition switch frustration

Got a new one at Carquest for $20.00 (The switch part), I'll give it a try today (hopefully). The existing one is also "new," but I got it several years ago in a big parts buy. THX, -JB

    Ignition switch frustration

So bringing back up an old topic, I was just able to test the post in the middle of the switch. It gets power in the on position but not in the accessory position. I tried removing the cylinder and manually rotating to accessory and got the same results. Is this an indicator of a bad switch...

    Kayline/Rampage soft top advice

I have a Kayline/Rampage soft top which sat in the box for many years before being installed recently. It fits the windshield track and the two speed rails at the edge of the bed just fine. Where it doesn't fit is around the door frames at all. It looks like there's some sort of plastic or...

    Won't fire..... Help!

Don't spray carb cleaner down the carb to try to diagnose a starting issue. Regular engine starting fluid is much better. Agree with others, make sure the battery system is fully charged anytime you're trying to diagnose an issue. Also agree with others about the shavings, start over with a...

Do you think I should straighten it out? I have this one: https://www.wildhorses4x4.com/early-bronco-trail-edition-np435-gear-banger-shifter but not using the tunnel cover because I have custom one.
