I think you start by inspecting the driveshaft and external stuff. Then take the drums off and see if one of the adjusters is rattling around, Then see if there is ANY lateral play in the wheel bearings - also run the rear-end on jack stands to see if the noise is apparent. Good luck! -JB

Awesome! If you are going to do the motor/trans/t-case, take those out first. Then get it to paint & body ASAP, those shops can take forever. Axles/suspension/lifts can be done later and in not too much time. -JB
