can the drum dana 30 axle be used as a base for the knuckles off of a 79 bronco dana 44 disk?

just spoke to cory at WH and he states that thru 76, they are both exactly the same if stock from the factory. something changed in 77 but other wise they sell only one option for original applications thru 76.
