Any strongly recommended transmission shop in Ventura or Los Angeles Ca. to rebuild my C4 auto trans.? So many automotive shops turning out inconsistent work. Thanks, John B

    Bronco C4 trans parts

I took my Bronco to a friend's shop. He used starter fluid, spraying it around the intake manifold, the carb, inside valve covers ,... no increase in rpm's. He stuck a stick down #1 cylinder, clicked the starter to tdc - the timing mark was right on. Advanced the time from it's 12 degrees to 16...

    Bronco C4 trans parts

I took my 73 Bronco to a transmission shop to be checked out. The mechanic said the most vacuum he could find was 12off the intake manifold. He said he needs 16 to make the C4 trans shift right(not slamming). The trans mechanic thought my moderate cam might be a factor in the lack of vacuum and...

    Bronco C4 trans parts

After sitting a day or two, starting my engine and then switching from park to a gear, the trans acts like it initially doesn't have fluid for a few seconds, then engages. Switching to another gear it hesitates a few seconds, then operates normally. It"s as if the fluid has leaked out of the...

Engine oil wt. and quantity, 1973 302.

I have a thousand miles on my just rebuilt 302 with 250 hp. I broke the engine in with 15/40 rotella non synthetic. What weight synthetic should I use? I'd like to put the right quantity for a 1973 stock pan and short filter. What quantity(Having the right quantity in the engine will help me...

GM TBI, Qjet or Auotlite 4100?

What model number is the 650QJet? Will the linkage hook up simply? Unfortunately I don't have but will obtain from the machine shop the specs on my cam. Do the QJets sit at approximately the same height as the Edelbrock 1406 650CFM carb? I don 't have much room under the hood and don't want to...

GM TBI, Qjet or Auotlite 4100?

I'm looking to put my gas pig 302 on a diet. I've recently had the 302 rebuilt with 289 High Performance grind cam, AFR 165 heads, and the Edelbrock performance manifold with the 1406 650 cfm carb. that the p.o. had on the engine, BC Bronco shorty headers. Pushing the gas peddle feels like...

    original seats

I have the top of my Bronco off all the time and the interior gets a lot of sun. The seats need recovering and I'd like to purchase parchment vinyl in a fabric that will survive with a great deal of sun exposure. Does anyone sell covers for Bronco stock seats that are marine grade? Thanks, John B

    Bronco car cover

I'm looking for a good quality car cover for my topless Bronco - could be one that would fit when the top is on. I get tired of pulling the Bronco in and out of the garage numerous times a day and would like a cover to protect my old clear coat and keep the dirt off. Anyone find a quality one...

    Filling tire rack holes

I removed the spare tire rack hardware and would like to fill the 7/16th holes with something. I'm thinking maybe nylon or plastic carriage bolts(with rounded heads) in black or painted the medium green color of my exterior. Anyone fill the bolt hole voids with something semi attractive? Thanks...

    2nd dash glove box

The prior owner hacked a 2 1/8th + by 7 1/8th + hole in the dash for a cassette player. Who sells a shallow(two inch approximately) "glove box" to install in the void created by the removal of the cassette player(It ate it's last Iron Maiden and Judas Priest albums it's going to be fed)? Anyone...

    Rear view mirror

Thanks Rustytruck. I'm going to put the chrome Bronco name back on both of fenders. Any source for the rubber or plastic fender inserts that hold them on? I ask because, as you have more than likely experienced, quality and ease of use varies today more then ever. Thanks again, John B

    Rear view mirror

I think grabbing a windshield mirror out of a wrecking yard is my best bet. I'll check out the Tahoe mirror. I have a new, in the box door mirror the PO gave me. It was made in Taiwan so I reinstalled the original slightly pitted 1973 Bronco door mirror. Thanks

    Rear view mirror

Thanks Scoop. Unfortunately there are no Pick-u-part yards nearby. I'll put the mirror on my list of junk yard parts to search for when I'm out of town. Thanks, John B

    Rear view mirror

P.D. Crown Vic. mirror? I can't tell you the last time I stared down a cop through a R-view mirror from the back seat of a P.D. Crown Victoria! Gotta have one just for old times sake! Being a retired fireman usually just got me a ride home. Pulling your leg. Thirty one years in the fire...

    Rear view mirror

Bronco Chat includes "where to get parts". I, as I'm sure many of you, are tormented trying to find parts that are close to OEM quality. I'm not talking Mercedes Benz or Ferrari, I'm talking OEM FORD parts. I'm talking parts that were installed on Ford Falcons and F100 pickup trucks. I am...

    Removed reserve tank hole

76YETI, Chances are I'll be the only one filling it up, just playing it safe. Thanks for your suggestions. Truly hope you all have a wonderful weekend, not allowing any bump in the road to ever capture any of the rest of the day. The best to you, John B

    Removed reserve tank hole

My sons drive my Bronco. I want to put a locking or non opening cap on the front fill neck to prevent them from attempting to fill a non-existent tank. A couple of beers could contribute to the development of that scenario. Middle grade(89 octane) is $4.30 a gallon so I need to put a locking...

    Removed reserve tank hole

I removed my reserve tank fill line and the tank. I'm thinking my best option for the moment is to cut the tank fill line down to a couple of inches in length, reattach it with the three screws, and put a locking gas cap on it. Eventually, when I have time, I might have the hole welded in and...

    Beach City Broncos

I agree with John Palmer, "we need to hear the other side of the story". A few statements from Classic Bronco members attesting to the quality of work done for them by Beach Cities Broncos will put this discussion to rest. John B
