Storing a dry engine for winter ?

Send me you addy and contact info and we'll get started on the shipping arrangements. A month ago that is how I felt. Ship it off and let it become someone else's headache. Hope to complete all of the body work this winter and maybe, just maybe, fire it up next spring / summer.[/COLOR]

Storing a dry engine for winter ?

Thanks all. Headers are off and heads capped. Will fog the cylinders just to make sure. Good excuse to go to my buddies for a Scotch.

Storing a dry engine for winter ?

Is there anything I need to do to the engine when storing my project for the winter ? The engine has no fluids in it at this time nor does the tranny etc. Do I need to squirt a little oil down the pistons or will it be fine ? Will be in a garage but not a heated one. Thanks

need ideas for making a frame jig for a rotissary?

That's what I did. I did not like the way a rotissorie attached to the body as I found it flexed a bit. This way she will remain straight. Picked up a bunch of used metal for a 1/10th of new cost. 3x3 and 4x4. Beefy. Used metal wheels so good for a smooth floor only.

Pulling C4 and Dana 20 TC. How do I do it?

Just stick a pry bar or long screwdriver behind the u-joint to work it loose (push forward)

    Bump stop question (pic's added)

bronko69er. Makes sense to me although my trig hat is all but empty ! Should have paid more attention in school I guess. So if I take the dummy approach, I could compress the rear suspension to see how far it travels before the shock bottoms out. This should give me a measurement for the...

Pulling C4 and Dana 20 TC. How do I do it?

If you remove the 4 bolts (per side) from the bracket that holds up the cross member it will drop straight down. Once you have it down you can seperate these from the crossmember and re-attach them to the frame or leave as is and just reverse the process when you go back and install everything...

    Bump stop question (pic's added)

I would hope that when someone orders a complete suspension from one of the vendors on this site they would send the proper shocks to go with the amount of lift. broncnaz, I understand what you are saying and I will snap a few pics in the morning. Thanks

    Bump stop question (pic's added)

With my new 3.5" lift I have 11.6" of travel from the frame to the axle. My shocks have 6.6" of travel. The tallest bump stop sold by vendors is 4.6" which would mean my shocks would bottom out 2" before the stops would contact the axle. This does not make sense to me. I understand the whole...

After looking back at your Bronco build did you ever wish you had'nt?

My regret is not knowing enough about Bronco's before diving into one. I could have saved a bunch of $$$'s by just looking for a frame and title and starting from scratch. I have pretty much replaced everything so far with new parts including every nut and bolt. Could have saved money from...

    rusted rockers... replace with?

Material is 1.75" .120 wall cold rolled ERW. As said before, another member here bent them up for me.

    rusted rockers... replace with?

These things are pretty heavy duty and I don't think the rocks will harm them. If they happen to get scratched while keeping the side from folding in, so be it.

    rusted rockers... replace with?

I fabbed these up from 3/16" with 1/4" bracing on inside. Also can serve as air tanks. Sliders were bent for me from another member here on the board.
