how do i determine wheel back spacing? is there anything else I need to consider when ordering a set of wheels? Any specific wheels that work well on and off road. I am thinking of going with 17" bead locks for my trail wheels. opinions on steel vs aluminum, 15" vs 17"?

came off my truck (77 Bronco, w/302). don't know make. have slip on adapters made, 3" at collector. surface rust on headers. adapters are like new.
