Storing a dry engine for winter ?

Is there anything I need to do to the engine when storing my project for the winter ? The engine has no fluids in it at this time nor does the tranny etc. Do I need to squirt a little oil down the pistons or will it be fine ? Will be in a garage but not a heated one. Thanks

    Bump stop question (pic's added)

With my new 3.5" lift I have 11.6" of travel from the frame to the axle. My shocks have 6.6" of travel. The tallest bump stop sold by vendors is 4.6" which would mean my shocks would bottom out 2" before the stops would contact the axle. This does not make sense to me. I understand the whole...

Who runs stock 351W exaust manifolds ?

I have a 351W from an 89 F250 that has been rebuilt .020. Nothing fancy inside. Are the stock 351W exaust manifolds fine ? Are stock shortys from a Cougar or Thunderbird better ? Don't really want to spend the big bucks on new headers so looking for the cheaper answer. Thanks

Rads. Explorer 2" alum. vs. Tom's 3 core

Just curious as to those that have run either. What might be better for me. I have a new 3 core rad from Tom's and also picked up a next to new 2" aluminum rad from the wreckers to try on the 351W. The 3 core will require the crossover kit from BC. Not going to run any wheel wells to get...

Pics needed of 351W engine bays. Brake side

With my 351W installed along with the long tube headers the brackets for the proportioning valve, MC lines etc no longer fit. Headers too tight to the frame rails. Searching for pics as to where / how you mounted or what brackets you have fabbed up. First 2 are from the bracket when the 302...

    C-4 guru's. Shift linkage questions.

The C-4 on the left from what I gather is the stock set-up. The C-4 on the right is what I have. The neutral safety switch was mounted underneath as opposed to the top mount of the stock version. The previous owner had a 3" body lift and I now have a 1" body lift but it now binds on the floor...

Re tapping starter bolt hole in C4

I noticed the bottom bolt hole on the starter bolt is stripped probably 2/3rds. Ran a 3/8ths tap through but no good. Not enough there to get a good bite. Starter holes are 7/16ths so should I just drill out the tranny side and tap it as 7/16ths ? Never tapped aluminum so is there anything...

    Drum brake Guru's. Help please.

I'm stumped ! I noticed I put my brake cylinders on the wrong side so switched them over so the brake hose once attached would be facing the rear of the vehicle. DUH ! Anyway, after doing this I can't get the drum over the brake shoes. The parts are all new and it fit before I changed over...

Difference between machined and polished wheels ?

Trying to decide on new wheels. What's the difference between the finish of the machined wheel on the left and the 2 polished or super finishes on the right ? Mostly for a daily driver so I won't be in the mud and rocks. Leaning towards the Eagle Series 055 on the left which are machined.

Who runs 4.5" BS with stock radius arms ?

I have a set of 16 x 10 wheels with 4.5" backspacing and 35's I'd like to run. I know my turning radius will be effected but really, how bad is it ? I know I could go Cage arms and wheel spacers but i'd like to hear from those that have this set-up.

What to do ? Tires, wheels & BS

I picked up these Eagles 16 x10" for dirt cheap and found a couple 16" tires to check my fittiment issues. Sure enough, they rub the radius arms. These have 4 1/2" Back spacing and the tire is a 35x12.50R16. Would you: Keep as is and get longer bolts for the steering stops. Run 1.25" - 1.5"...

Will this back spacing be too much ?

Looking at some Eagle series 186. 17x9 4.625 back spacing -8mm offset. Don't want to get into wheel spacers or anything like that. Not sure if I'm going to run 35's or 37's yet. What are your thoughts ? Thanks

    Back spacing question for 17x9's

Looking at 17x9 wheeels either the MT Classic ll's or Eagle Alloy 186's. Most of what I have read states 4" or less back spacing to work. Seems all the 17x9's are 4.5"'s or more. Am I missing something here ? Will 4 1/2" back spacing work ? I don't want to get into spacers if at all possible...
