    1969 4BD1T Diesel & NV4500 conversion on 33's

Today my brother and I got the drivetrain out with not much hassle. Then pulled out the plasma cutter and went to town on all the brackets and stock crossmember. I am going to make new one out of tube that is more forward then the factory location. If all goes well I will possibly get the...

    1969 4BD1T Diesel & NV4500 conversion on 33's

Nothing too exciting tonight. Got the drivers caliper mounted with no issues. Did a lot of measuring with where the "in cab AC box" will be going. Classic auto air says it measures 20.875″ inches long, 7.125″ inches deep, and 9.5″ tall. The second pic shows the room I have to work with.(22")...

    1969 4BD1T Diesel & NV4500 conversion on 33's

Got the caliper bracket machined fully besides the mounting holes for the caliper which should be done by tomorrow night. Also the other rotor bored out and drilled for 5x5.5" bolt pattern. I was way less worried this time around when machining this rotor than the last. My condenser should be...

Got the hard side completed now just need to do the recessed areas where the caliper mounts to. My estimate was way off when I said 4 hours of more work. this was like 6 hours of machining in these pics. :o

    Super Celebration WEST?

Been thinking about coming out to this event. I believe it is possible to have my Bronco done by then. It would be a great long distance first trip to a Bronco gathering. Also great time to be out in Colorado. The date is quite a ways out.

Started working on the driver's side caliper mount. I'm still a slow machinist but not as slow as the first bracket. This took me 5 hours to get to this point. Probably need about 4 hours of more work to get the caliper bolted to it. Going to try and get that tomorrow hopefully.

Finished bumper came out pretty nice. No distortion that I can tell. It's always a little nerve racking when welding long pieces of metal that needs to bolt up after your done. I was doing some thinking the other day and I think I have the hood latch figured out. I'm going to use the hood...

Hard parts of the bumper are now done. Sticks out less than 4" from the grill. The receiver hitch is going to welded to the front 3/16" thick pate and the rear is supported with 2 pieces of 2" angle iron that are triangulated to the 3/16" mounting brackets. I will have to reach underneath to get...

    1969 4BD1T Diesel & NV4500 conversion on 33's

Wanted to work on something with a little less of a challenge tonight. Decided to start on the front bumper. Tomorrow I should have it all tacked together. I don't think I'm going to use the stock bumper mounting holes instead I'm using four existing holes on the inside of the frame rails. The...

    1969 4BD1T Diesel & NV4500 conversion on 33's

I actually got it to work! ;D To be able to locate the caliper I needed to have the rotor off. So machined a small piece of scrap metal with a 1.8" hole that gaged off of the inner bearing surface. The outside of that piece had the exact radius of the rotor so I could use a transfer punch to...

Only a couple of more holes and the passenger side should be done. The clearance for the knuckle wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be. I'm going be doing a little more work later tonight maybe even actually get it back on it wheel if I'm lucky.

    1969 4BD1T Diesel & NV4500 conversion on 33's

Did a few passes on my caliper bracket today. The blue sharpie mark is the outer profile of the knuckle that I will be machining in the bracket to keep as much meat as I can on it. It's going to be a little nerve racking when I go to mark out the holes for the caliper. My plan is make plate that...

Haven't been too motivated lately but tonight I did a little work. I'll start working on the Bronco more this week. This bracket has been bugging the heck out me from trying to figure out how I am going to finish it but I have an idea and I guess I'll just take it one step at a time.
