My 1997 F150 4x4, 4.6L with 250k miles has a blown head gasket on the passenger side. The shop recommends replacing both head gaskets and machining the heads while the engine is torn down rather than doing just the one figuring the other side is about to go. Cost is $1500-$1700 :o :o :o

I've heard the design on the 4.6L uses a stainless steel gasket and it's rare that they go. Shold I do both sides?

What sounds like a fair cost to do the repair?

Anyone ever use the Block/Head Gasket repair in a bright green bottle or other "quick fix"???

It's been leaking coolant for quite some time, never over heated or runs hot. I want to question the blown head gasket diagnosis but can't check it myself and don't want to spend another $75 to have someone look at it if I don't have to. I don't hear any exhaust leaks and there's no oil in the water or vice versa.

I have been looking at new Welding Helmets since my Miller Elite crapped the bed. I liked the Miller Elite Series because of the larger viewing area. I have been looking now at the Lincoln Vista 3000 series because of the same wide viewing area. They also have Series 1000 and 2000, but the 3000 provides the most viewing area. Has anyone used the Lincoln Vista 3000? Any feedback? Let me know.

Does anyone know if there was a version of the 5.0 EFI that has the fuel inlet & exits located at the engine right rear?

The rear exit versions I have found so far all exit engine rear left corner but all my fuel lines are routed up the right side and my exhaust is routed on the vehicle left side. OK so its not stock.
