Ford Factory Shop Manuals
Author: Ford Motor Company
Published: 1966-1977 by Ford Motor Company
Description: These are the original Factory Shop Manuals as produced by Ford. Each year (66-77) is a different set and each set covers all Ford Trucks for that year, including Broncos. They include very detailed proceedures, factory diagrams, specs, etc.
Depending on year, the entire set will include 4 or 5 volumes in 3-5 separate books. (Example 1976 includes 4 books. Vol.1-Chassis, Vol.2-Engine, Vol.3/4-Electrical/Body, Vol.5-Predelivery, maintenance and lubrication)
These books are no longer being produced and so they are typically found at specialty auto literature suppliers or swap meets. Be careful when buying that you get a complete set with all the volumes for that year.

If I could have only 1 book (or set of books in this case) for my Bronco this would be it. The more readily available Chiltons and Haynes repair manuals are OK for the casual mechanic, but if you're serious about working on your Bronco you need the real factory shop manuals. These are by far the most detailed repair books available, complete with exploded diagrams, photos, torque specs, etc. They also include other Ford trucks from that year, which can be helpful if you've swapped in non-stock parts like an NP-435 tranny or full-size axles.

I recently purchased the complete set of Ford Shop Manuals and I agree, it was a purchase that I am glad I made! I just finished completely rebuilding the Dana 44 front and the 9 inch rear while installing ARBs in both. The shop manuals provided me with the correct torque specs and more detailed info than did either the installation instructions provided by the gear or the ARB manufacturer. Another slick feature is that every diagram has a part number listed next to the picture of the item. This really helped with a couple of specific bearing issues I had. I just took my manual to the Ford parts counter, opened the book, and pointed to the part I need and the counter guy wrote down the number and came back with the part I needed!

I have the 3 different brand manuals and agreed this one is the best!

Have had all the books and just purchased the 1972 4-volume factory set. Hands down the best resource for working on your bronco. Never have to dig for a torque spec or part number or decent drawing again. This set of books covers everything in detail. FYI, I ordered the set from www.fordtoolbox.com.
